The little one is actually 7'6" long and the other about 15'7". The sides started out at 8' and 16' and the curve of the boat is what lessens the length.

This boat started out as a classic pirogue. I planned only to have a small boat with which to run trot lines. Once I got the kayak fishing bug I added a deck and experimented with a lot of different things. Right now I am considering taking off at least 3" of freeboard , adding two watertight bulkheads, and redoing the deck with a much smaller (4') oval shaped cockpit. That would improve handling and useability, but it has already proven to be quite good. |
